To Whom Sould I Aspire To?

If I have any quality in me,
That one should aspire to,
Then it is because of those,
Who have preceded me.

For in there example,
I have come to know,
That which is exemplary,
And that which one should hold.

For in their extraordinary witness,
I have come to realize my self,
As nothing more than finite,
But as the successor of themselves.

So, hail my fair friends,
For in you I take delight,
And dream of you until the end,
Until I say my final goodbye.
